The home in Grouville
This property, in Grouville, already has a heat pump and EV so the electricity consumption was quite high. Although the house’s roof could have provided a useful area on which to install solar panels the nearby garage and workshop building offered a large, south-facing, unshaded platform on which to install 40 solar panels giving a peak output of 18.2 kW.
Three 10 kW Sigenergy batteries sited in one of the garages stores 27 kW of available power which can be used in the main house or the adjacent outbuildings. Because the batteries are modular and stack together somewhat like Lego blocks, if at any point the home owners find that they need greater storage capacity an extra unit can simply be added to the stack.
NB. Sigenergy batteries and their inverters are widely regarded as the best that are currently available. However, other brands of lithium ion batteries and also sodium ion batteries are available for those with a more limited budget.
